Wow. I really enjoyed this audiobook. At the end I just felt like the sun finally shined after terrible storm. Now it was time to just bask and singing or something.Christian Fox and Lucy River's narration of this story left me breathless with anticipation. It was so gripping that I had to just sit down and really feel everything as I was listening to it. Their voices blended so well with the story that I felt that they were sitting with me and just talking to me. I literally had goosebumps in certain parts of this story.
The story was really well written, though it was dark and gritty. But I was completely engrossed in the story the whole time. This series was so much better than the King series. The characters and plot was fleshed out more thoroughly here.
Abby Ford was such a strong heroine. She had survived her heroin addicted mother and all the men running through her house. She was going to school and living her grandmother until a tragic accident left the 17 year old alone. With only a few month before she was an adult, Abby decided to dodge child protective services by sleeping in various abandoned places until she could escape the CPS worker who was trying to place her with a foster family.
Her classmate Owen offered her help, with strings but Abby didn't want to fall into the same traps her mother did, so she turned Owen down.
When Jake Dunn returned to town to settle his deadbeat dad's affairs, he found Abby squatting in his father's abandoned building. Taking pity on her and wanting to help, Jake offers her a job as well as protection by telling the CPS work that he was her cousin.
Their complication relationship began with both respecting each others baggage and not pressing for more information that the other was willing to give. Jake also had a terrible childhood thanks to his drunkard father so Abby recognized a kindred spirit. Slowly they built trust and a love that was tested when Jake was called away for a job. When he returned a rumor drove a wedge between them and Jake left Abby.
4 years later, when Jake's father died, he returned for the funeral to find Abby still standing and still holding his heart. Now Jake had to find the courage to reach out and mend the rift. But would Abby be willing to trust him again?
There isn't much that can be said without ruining this powerful and emotional story. It was real, it was touching and it was inspiring. Though some bad people didn't change, some did and that made all the difference. There was pain, growth, heartbreak and later forgiveness. While some wounds would never heal, overall, that special thing Jake and Abby found was powerful.
I am definitely keeping my eyes on TM Frazier because she floored me with this one.

The Dark Light of Day TM Frazier 9781620151730 Books Reviews
This is my very first book by T.M. Frazier to read and I was blown away!! I've heard so much about this author and this series so I knew it would be amazing, but it exceeded my expectations by far! This is the prequel to the King series and although it can be read as a standalone, once you read this and the following novella, there's no way you won't be craving more and ready to move on to King!! This is Jake and Abby's story and my oh my was it intense!! Abby is on the run from the family services system that has failed her for many years and when sleeping in an old truck at a junk yard, she is discovered by Jake, who is no calm, tenderhearted man. Jake is forced to come back to his hometown and isn't happy about it, but things begin to shift for him after he meets Abby. These characters are strong, intense, dark, and have many secrets they are hiding. As feelings grow and secrets come to light, they have to figure out if they are strong enough and even willing to make their relationship work. There's no loss of drama, twists, hurt, lust, love, and super steaminess!!! I don't wanna spoil anything but just know that this is nothing like what you would expect...it is sooooo much more!!! Read this and dive straight into the following novella, Dark Needs, for an amazing experience!! And just remember, this is only the beginning of the most awesome list of books ever!!
Omfg Jake is AMAZING !!!!
I luvd this book so much. I started this morning and just finished. What a book. My friends told me to read this book a few months ago after read King And Tyrant and I m so glad I did. I just can't believe how good it was. Jake is just amazing I luv the guy. He is definitely up there with my favourite book boyfriends.
This story has so much goin on and pretty much starts with a bang. My heart breaks for Abby so much through our this book. The girl just doesn't get a break. Meeting Jake is one of the good thing to happen to her until it all starts again. She had to go through pure hell this girl deserves her HEA. But god She was made to work for it. Even when things were goin good thriving stay that way long. Having Jake as a protected is a good thing even though he can mess up at time. But she didn't expect anything less even though she really thought she could trust him.
Jake has had to deal with his own crazy life from a young. Life has been simple for him and dealing with his dad's rejection was a hard time for him. But he is Jake Dunn he doesn't need anyone once he has his bike he's happy. Until he meets Abby them his life is never the same. Abby had a good on him like no one else ever did.
Abby and Jake's story is so good. They have both been through so much separate and together. I really liked how they started opening up to each the game was cute but it helped them learn to trust in some ways. Just wish Jake could trust more. I really wanted to hug Abby throughout this book seeing her open up to Make was brilliant. For someone who couldn't deal with touch no matter what sort of touch it was, to see her finally let Jake in was amazing. I really thought there chemistry was strong from the start. I really couldn't get enough of them and this book it was just amazing. I 've not read many of TM Frazier books but I have to say I luv her writing in this book it was so good. I would highly recommend it.
